I’m sitting in my small cottage living room, looking at the art covering the walls. My teacher’s work, Chery Baird, from her MFA program quite some time ago. What a treat to see, this piece. And right next to it is a very sweet piece by my soul sister sculptor friend, Lynn Dwyer!
Surrounding her piece, I have some of my own work, the favorites I have that thankfully no one ever thought my best. I feel like they are my happy friends when I look at them. Artists know these pieces. A part of ourselves in that piece, in that moment. Art is an emotional process! It’s a rhythm of speaking movement, from one’s head, heart, and hand out onto the paper, canvas, wood, or whatever!
Tonight I took Chuck’s advice, and cranked up some Brazilian Jazz for de-stress Friday. Thank you Chuck! The Girl from Ipanema never sounded better!
I will attach my old, fav friend. It is titled,
“The Push and Pull of Montevideo”
Mixed media on paper with acrylic, collage, and graphite pencil
it has 2 other mates to make it a contemporary triptych encased in plexiglass with industrial accent pieces .
Peace, Love, and Blessings to All♥️
